Discover Saskatoon - YWCA Opportunity Shop Thrift Store

Angela Porrelli November 3, 2022

The YWCA Guild was formed by a membership committee in 1959. At this time, the Guild’s mandate was to raise $25,000 for furniture for the new YWCA expansion. By opening a consignment store for clothing and household articles, these women raised enough funds for the furniture and began a tradition that is still with us today.

The YWCA Opportunity Shop Thrift Store is no longer a consignment; they take donations only. Selling: – gently used clothing for women, men, and kids – high-end boutique section – toys, books, small household items – small furniture items (bookcases, chairs, stools, lamps, and fans) – a good selection of bedding and linens. The store progressed from a few volunteers to 40 volunteers, four part-time employees, and is open six days a week.

Due to the generosity of people donating to the shop they are able to donate their proceeds to the YWCA Saskatoon to go towards supporting crisis intervention programs and services of the YWCA Saskatoon.
